Telecoms company TFM Networks is new to RBTE, and it will be showcasing its range of products at the two-day event at London Olympia between 9-10 March 2016.

Essential Retail caught up with Alison Irvine, group sales and marketing director at TFM Networks, to find out more about the company and its plans for the spring show.

Why have you booked for RBTE 2016?

Where better a place for us to showcase TFM Networks retail solutions than in an arena brimming with innovation, stimulation and success! RBTE is renowned for surpassing expectations, continuing to deliver in both quality and quantity year after year.

Telecoms has become vital for business success in the 21st century, particularly with the world taking to eCommerce like a duck to water. We were one of the first companies on the scene when Chip & PIN was introduced in the early 2000s, providing the connectivity that retailers needed to adopt the new payments methods and communicate quickly, securely and reliably with the banks.

The eCommerce boom brings with it new advantages but also new challenges. Retailers need to offer an accessible service with no downtime, while ensuring that they improve the experience in-store. At RBTE we’re looking forward to meeting and greeting the biggest names in retail and demonstrating how to use smarter networks for smarter business.

What new technology will you be displaying at RBTE 2016, and why is it relevant?

Our technology and engineering enables retailers to get more from their networks and their customers. At RBTE 2016 we will be providing a live smart networking showcase, demonstrating our Guest Wi-Fi service including a live interactive display of the Purple WiFi real-time analytics dashboard. This will provide live data on attendee demographics such as gender and location, social interests, length of internet use, total amount of users and data usage.

By using a deeper level of analytics we will show attendees how they can enable a smarter deployment of marketing messages and learn more about getting the most out of their networks. Visitors will be able to log into the Wi-Fi service through a Guest Wi-Fi login page, allowing them to instantly secure a fast and reliable connection and access to portal analytics, including live location data.

We are also showcasing our new rapid deploy 4G data service, enabling businesses to get their internet connections and networks up and running within just a couple of days.

Name some of the retailers that you are currently working alongside?

We serve over 400 clients across the UK, providing them with business-only networks that give them the flexibility and connectivity they need to grow their bottom line. We handle over 230 terabytes of business-grade traffic in a typical week and have worked with some of the biggest and most exciting names in retail and hospitality, including Swarovski, Cineworld and Travelodge.

What's the best customer service you've experienced this year?

We recently experienced excellent customer service while using in-store Wi-Fi from Boots the retailer. They cater for what customers really want in store: a quick and easy connection process and a consistently strong signal to add to the in-store experience, allowing us to check how many points we had to spend - effortless!

Quick-fire question round: Do you...

Shop in-store or online? Both, whichever suits me best at the time. Online shopping is a whole lot quicker and easier, but I still enjoy the build-up to Christmas and the in-store shopping buzz - especially the (essential) mince pie and mulled wine pit-stop!

Prefer tea or coffee? Strong builders tea, definitely.

Use Facebook or Twitter? Twitter certainly helps us to connect with users and businesses from @TFMNetworks. We're still undecided about the new ‘Like’ hearts though!

Use iOS or Android? I tend to use iOS for business, but Android for pleasure!

Rate beacons or digital signage? We’ve used beacon technology and love the personalised in-store experience it brings!

Use contactless or cash? Contactless, every time. It’s so quick and easy and saves being weighed down with loose change!

Visitors to RBTE 2016 can meet with TFM Networks at Stand 399.
