The home of English rugby, Twickenham Stadium, has completed the installation of new point of sale (PoS) technology systems as it continues to find ways of creating operational efficiencies and speeding up how it serves sports fans.

Following trials last year, the stadium has implemented Addvance IT's cloud-based Kapture PoS software complete with its analytics package that helps the Rugby Football Union (RFU) gain a real-time view of how their systems are operating during busy matchdays.

Kappture PoS operates on the existing RFU cabled and wireless networks, and its arrival coincides with the installation of 70 new iPOS Plus terminals from vendor Wincor Nixdorf to add to more than 350 already-established PoS devices at the venue. The new software manages credit and debit card transactions, including contactless payments and wristband payments, via the Ingenico IPP350 terminal.

In addition, Kappture is fully integrated with both the Triple Jump Technologies' real-time stock system and, in a nod to some of the new ways consumers are now choosing to pay for items, the Powa Tag mobile/pre-ordering solution. Fans attending the QBE International game between England and New Zealand in the winter were the first to be able to use the PowaTag app for food and drink orders, before picking them up at dedicated express lines located throughout the stadium.

Mobile payments provider Znap has also previously been used at Twickenham, which is among the first UK sporting stadia to experiment with mobile transactional technology at scale.

Jonathan Harris, Twickenham Experience finance director, added: "The Kappture PoS solution has provided real time data to enable us to monitor our key performance indicators but also reduce the amount of support calls. The flexible reporting tools have been a big success with our operational teams."
