UK retailer Furniture Village is investing in eCommerce in 2016, and has put a new focus on search engine optimisation (SEO) as part of wider online retail changes being implemented across the business.

In a move to refresh its digital search strategy, Furniture Village has appointed digital agency and consultant firm Summit as it looks to increase revenue from its online operations through SEO.

Furniture Village has significantly grown its in-house eCommerce team in recent months, and the company is launching a new website this year. Summit will work closely with the retailer to help staff develop their understanding of how to optimise online customer journeys and boost sales.

Steve Godbolt, digital marketing manager at Furniture Village, commented: "As so many of our customers' journeys begin online, search plays a crucial role across the whole business."

Furniture Village, which sells sofas, beds and other furniture, also recently teamed up with technology company SpinMe to ensure all product pictures displayed on its website benefit from 360-degree spin photography.

As part of plans for the new website, users will have an opportunity to view products from all angles by using the technology.

Furniture Village says that shoppers have now come to expect video and 360-views of products when looking for items online, and the retailer's digital investments are being made with the aim of improving the overall customer experience.
