Luxury e-tailer Yoox Net-a-Porter has appointed Instagram's global head of fashion partnerships, Eva Chen, to its board of directors, with the company looking to benefit from her social media and publishing experience.

Chen, who has been appointed an independent director alongside Vittorio Radice, vice-chairman of Italian department store la Rinascente, brings more than a decade of experience in the publishing and fashion industry, and Yoox is keen to tap into her expertise on how social media has shaped the fashion community.

Prior to joining Instagram this summer, Chen spent two years as editor in chief for Condé Nast Group publication, Lucky magazine, and has worked at prominent titles such as Elle, Teen Vogue and The Wall Street Journal. With over 500,000 Instagram followers she is a highly visible figure in the fashion community.

Chen said: "I'm honoured to be joining the industry leaders on the Yoox Net-a-Porter team and sharing my passion for all things content, commerce, and social."

Radice, meanwhile, recently led the successful repositioning of la Rinascente, and was Selfridges CEO between 1996 and 2003, where he is widely credited with turning the business around.
