Ocado has reported its gross retail sales have increased 15.3% to £252 million for its third quarter ending 9 August 2015, while average orders per week increased 16.6%.

Group gross sales – which includes Ocado's contract to provide the IT behind Morrison's eCommerce offering –  were also up 17.3% to £272 million, compared to the same quarter last year.

But there is still no sign of the international technology deal to provide eCommerce services for a large overseas retailer. Ocado is expected to sign an agreement before the end of the year.

Tim Steiner, Ocado’s CEO, said: "We are pleased with the continued steady growth of our business in a retail environment that remains tough.

"We believe our commitment to improving what we offer to customers through innovation and our proprietary IP will support further growth. Notwithstanding the competitive nature of the marketplace, we expect to continue growing slightly ahead of the online grocery market."

Meanwhile, average orders per week also increased 16.6% from 163,000 to 190,000, but average order size fell 1.1% from £111.64 to £110.46.
