Poundland is trialling a transactional website with a delivery fee of £4 for orders under £50.

Its first transactional eCommerce website will be available to UK customers only and will offer 2,000 products for the fixed price of £1 across household, health and beauty and FMCG lines.

Jim McCarthy, CEO, said: “We now have over 550 stores across the UK which provide our customers with magic moments when they find amazing value products at our famous £1 price point. Our online channel will make shopping even easier, it’s convenient and caters for shoppers who may not yet have a Poundland nearby, but who still want to benefit from the amazing value and remarkable treasure trove of lines we offer.

“After 25 years of amazing value on the high street, what better way to celebrate than by launching Poundland online to make it even more convenient to save money and delight customers ”

The retailer, which serves 5.3 million customers every week, also said it plans to trial click & collect in 2016.

Commerce agency, Ampersand, has been working with the value retailer on the eCommerce launch.

Managing director, Darryl Adie, said it is just the beginning of Poundland's multi-channel journey.

"The new website, optimised for desktop, tablet and mobile positions Poundland as a fun, modern and accessible retailer. In addition to showcasing the extensive product range available to buy online and in-store, the new website features gamification and bulk buying. The new features are sure to appeal to Poundland’s loyal customer base.”
