Disney film Frozen looks like being the most popular theme for children's toys this Christmas, according to new research.

The movie has topped a list created by digital agency Greenlight, which investigated online searches for kids toys referencing a brand name, between September and October 2014. Foam toy maker Nerf has bagged the number two spot, ahead of Peppa Pig in third place.

Andreas Pouros, co-founder and COO at Greenlight, commented: "It's Frozen-mania this Christmas as parents search high and low for this year's must-have toys.

"As festive shopping reaches fever pitch, Frozen toys are topping wish-lists for children across the nation."

Meanwhile, as Christmas party season clicks firmly into gear and Save the Children's Christmas jumper day (12 December) edges ever closer, separate online research has found that searches for novelty Christmas clothing is on the rise.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) automation provider One Hydra ranked keywords in terms of SEO visibility from October to December 2014, finding that the term 'Novelty Christmas jumpers' has increased 235% over that period. Searches for 'Rude Christmas jumpers' have jumped 662% during that time.

Back in October, Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com owner Shop Direct predicted its best sellers for the festive season, with a Frozen-themed product making its top-ten list. All will become clear in the coming weeks.
