Toy retailer The Entertainer is working with Belgium-based technology company Zetes to gain a real-time view of its stock availability.

Using the vendor's ZetesAthena cloud-based in-store management solution, The Entertainer's management team can gain immediate access to stock count results from any location, which are directly integrated with the company's main ERP system.

The Entertainer operates 90 stores across the UK and is currently looking to expand internationally following the opening of its first non-UK store in Dubai last year.

Each year the retailer is required to complete a physical stock count to ensure its assets can be accurately recorded for accounting purposes, so it outsources the physical counting to a third party specialist which uses ZetesAthena – run on a mobile device – to complete stock counts in up to three different stores per day, over a three-month period.

Stuart Molyneux, head of risk at The Entertainer, remarked: "Using ZetesAthena we have an efficient solution for stock auditing based on the latest cloud technology which means we have full visibility of the counting process from a decentralised location.

"In addition, because ZetesAthena is also a full in-store management solution, we can potentially scale our use of the software to manage other retail processes in the future, ensuring we have an accurate picture of stock availability and visibility at all times."

The Entertainer is looking to open stores in ten new territories before the end of 2014, as the company looks to establish a greater international presence. It also recently opened its inaugural concession store, which is located in Edinburgh's House of Fraser.
