With the busy Christmas period on the horizon, UK-based jeweller F. Hinds has teamed up with technology solutions provider Cybertill to deploy a new cloud-based electronic PoS system in its 111 stores nationwide.

As a method of avoiding long queues in-store during the forthcoming festive season, the retailer is planning to utilise Cybertill's cloud-based technology to serve customers at different points around its shops. The equipment will also allow F. Hinds to keep a check on real-time stock levels, which it says will enable the business to maximise sales opportunities.

Director Andrew Hinds said: "The managed service aspect of Cybertill was also very appealing. As an organisation we don't have to concern ourselves with data back-ups or software upgrades, we can focus on managing our business not our EPoS system."

Cybertill founder and CEO, Ian Tomlinson, said that a growing number of retailers are using his company's retail technology.

The list of Cybertill retail clients includes charity British Red Cross, footwear specialist New Balance and fashion firm Quiksilver, but the tech systems company is looking to expand further afield having recently announced plans to grow its presence in North America.

Commenting in July, Tomlinson remarked: "It is the logical first step for Cybertill as some of our customers have already opened stores in North America and we are supporting them.

"We have also developed the Cybertill product to accommodate the tax arrangements of the US. What's more Cybertill has recently developed the ability for the software to be multi-currency. This enables retailers to monitor their entire estate and report on their key indicators, such as stock and sales, from a local or global perspective in any currency."
