Toshiba has been recognised for its deployment of technology within the LA Interactive area at Los Angeles' sporting venue, Staples Center.

LA Interactive – an area situated in the main concourse of the stadium providing sporting fans with interactive content, social media visualisations, live game action, player stats, game scores, and news from out-of-town matches – has been awarded the 2015 ICX Association Excellence Award in the entertainment category.

Featuring a six- by 13-foot LED video wall, eight- by five-foot Toshiba Ultra HD video wall, three 65-inch Toshiba Ultra HD displays and two 46-inch Toshiba Virtuoso interactive touch displays, the area provides fans of hockey team Los Angeles Kings and basketball side Los Angeles Clippers in-depth information about their teams. Photos, stats and video highlights are all broadcast on the screen to provide digital entertainment for those visiting the venue.

In addition, the fan engagement zone features a 60-inch Toshiba "Touch & Get" interactive kiosk allowing users to access exclusive content about the Kings and Staples Center in general.

Toshiba began planning for the project in July 2014, having been selected by stadium owner AEG. An official ribbon-cutting event to open LA Interactive took place last November ahead of the National Hockey League match between Kings and Vancouver Canucks.

Staples Center president Lee Zeidman said: "Partnering with an innovative and forward thinking company like Toshiba and creating LA Interactive on our main concourse has given our guests the opportunity to connect and engage with exclusive content."

Scott Slucher, executive director at ICX Association, called LA Interactive "a unique fan engagement venue that is sure to promote brand loyalty and excitement".
